Kulinarya ng Tisa (Culinary of the Tile) is one of the few restaurants that is opened during lunch time in this side of town. From the same owner of Bahay na Tisa. They have the same menu and you can call Ms. Rina Aniag, at 0917 517 4999 to inquire about specials and to make reservations.
From the name itself, this is a real Filipino Restaurant but my itching tongue has to take the challenge and taste if their Spaghetti Pesto tastes better than mine. With much prodding from the waiter (who seemed so proud of their pesto as well), I ordered one… and I should have not listened. Blame it on my “No Rice Policy”.
Foodie’s Order :
The Spaghetti Pesto with Bacon’s presentation is good. In fact, it looked better than it taste. The pasta is al dente but I think the chef got so happy with the EVOO that it had too much of it. On the taste department … let us talk of other things.
Potato Side Salad – a scoop of the usual potato salad on a bed of lettuce – yes, presentation wise – this looks nice.
Lechong Kawali (Pan-Roasted Pork) – the plating brought glimmer in my eyes. The platter used is a piece of glass with a picture under it. It was simply presented with the lechon kawali, atsara and vinegar. Atsara (Filipino Pickled Green Papaya), our country’s contribution to the world of Asian pickles, is made up of carrots, ginger, onions and bell peppers added to the papaya. This is good but could be better if the meat wasn’t cooked too much that it became very dry but crispy. It would be wonderful if it is crisp outside and juicy inside.
I was born and bred in Bulacan and this place is close to my heart but it gives me such a heartbreak when this kind of disappointment happens. When going to a restaurant which obviously the specialty is Filipino food, order Pinoy food. If you are a restaurant which specializes in Filipino food – stick to it. This is a just a peek in their menu – there could be a treasure hiding in the kitchen … I’ve yet to taste this.
